Reading Apprenticeship Workshop

Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (PST); Los Angeles Mission College, CAI Arroyo Room

Would you like to improve your students’ success? This interactive workshop offers participants hands-on practice with Reading Apprenticeship (RA) routines, a series of easily adaptable strategies that can be quickly integrated into (and customized for) any classroom instruction with all levels of students.

RA helps instructors support students across the disciplines and levels to become motivated, strategic, and critical readers, thinkers, and writers, to develop positive literacy identities and to engage with challenging academic texts. RA draws on instructors’ expertise as discipline–based readers and on students’ untapped strengths as learners. Participants will join in an interactive workshop centered on embedding RA routines into their courses across disciplines; understand the importance of implementing RA routines as an essential component of deep learning and student success; and connect with interdisciplinary fellow practitioners.
