Acknowledgments
As the faculty chair for the self-study process, I would like to acknowledge and thank the following individuals for their assistance in preparing this document. Without their involvement and the enthusiastic participation of the entire campus community, this process would not have succeeded. Roman Juarez, the accreditation assistant, developed and maintained the web page, provided accurate and thorough documentation of the self-study process, unearthed vast quantities of evidence for the standards' committees, and provided valuable insights to the self-study and the Multi-College Pilot Program. He authored the functional maps that are now being used by the district. He also provided technical support and perceptive commentary into the development of the new assessment and planning process at the college. Maury Pearl, the Associate Dean of Research and College Development, was professionally thorough in his research supporting the self-study. His expertise in the interpretation of data was invaluable to the committees' work. His enthusiasm for developing the assessment and planning process was instrumental in the Planning Committee's success. Mark Pracher, the chair of the Institutional Effectiveness Committee, gave generously of his time and support to the self-study chair. His custody of the college's institutional memory was critical to the success of the self-study and his insights about strategic planning were essential to the development of the assessment and planning process that is the heart of the planning agenda. Benny Scott, Dean of Academic Affairs, did an enormous amount of precise and professionally accurate individual work on two standards, and his understanding of district and state policies helped immeasurably to advance the cause. Leslie Milke, the President of the Academic Senate, gave steadfast and significant advice on all of the standards and provided sound guidance concerning critical issues that surfaced during the self-study process. Shari Borchetta, Vice President of Administrative Services, was instrumental in writing large portions of two standards and provided critical background information on finance, budget and operations. Vickie Oddino, editor, cheerfully made sense of the submissions of the committees and the chair, changed endless passive voice problems, and met every impossible deadline. Joumana Witt, graphic artist, provided a design for the report that dramatically reflects the dynamic changes described within.
