Los Angeles Mission College

Standard Ten meeting

December 14, 1999

Minutes

Present: Ed Raskin, Benny Scott, Rosemary Smith, Leslie Milke, Maury Pearl, John Cantley

The committee decided to go through the entire standard, section by section.

A. 1 - 7 The committee felt these sections would best be described after the January 6 workshop. An important question occurs in A.5. Does the board publish the means by which it assesses its effectiveness? John Cantley was assigned A.7 wherein the pilot program (MCPP) would be described.

B.1, 2, and 3 Discussion as to what actual mechanism is used by the President to define goals, develop plans and establish priorities. It was decided to look at the master plan and the process that is being developed to create it.

B. 4 The committee questioned whether or not there exists a policy by which the administrative staff is evaluated. Need to interview Shari Borchetta and Benny Scott.

B. 5 Governance structure is being defined by President's office. Need to interview him.

B. 6 and B.7 The minutes of the Faculty Senate need to be available. Leslie Milke will provide. Roman will make a link to accreditation site.

B.8 and B.9 The committee needs to look at the shared governance policy. The one we have is old and not updated. Fern Riesner needs to be interviewed for the classified view.

B.10 A student member of the committee will be appointed in the spring semester. Milke, Jose Luis Ramirez and the ASO representative will be assigned this section.

C.1 - 6 The committee felt that these sections must be the subject of the workshop on January 6. C.2 especially must be explained as to the functions of the allocation formula. Vice Chancellor Bonnie James would need to answer this. How does the district assess the effectiveness of the services it provides for the colleges? Does it publish the assessment process? C.3 is a problem to describe since the relationship between the district and the colleges is in a state of flux.

As a part of this standard, the accreditation office will acquire and put on line all minutes of committees such as MPCC, Curriculum, Council of Instruction, Budget, Faculty Senate, Campus Development, Master Plan, Work Environment, the Mission College Foundation, the ASO, the Faculty User Group, etc.
