John Cantley presented the district and Board answers to the committee. The committee agreed that the responses needed to be more specific.

B.1

Discussion: Consultation with President in the Bargaining Agreement? Gonzalez

AB1725 does not use the term shared governance—it refers to the requirement to consult collegially. Either there is an agreement to rely primarily on the faculty re: an issue, or mutually agree on it.

For evaluation discuss new permanent president in evaluation. What is the new President's agenda? Discuss community forums aided in selection of new president.

B.2

Discussion: MPCC gets input from the committees but the president makes the ultimate decision.

Are there enough support staff? Survey on admin. effectiveness? Does the administration have statement of purpose, mission statement or anything like that? How does an administrator know what he or she is responsible for? TCI's and ISA's responsibilities are equitable and supported by adequately by staff?

B.4 Discussion: Administrators move from teaching into administration.

For evaluation discuss if they receive any training or orientation. Also discuss the high turnover of administrators. Review district responses.

B.5 For evaluation discuss how governance is affected by administrative turnover and how the roles in governance change all the time. Are they clearly defined?

B.6 For evaluation discuss the shared governance problems, committee effectiveness, departmental structure, (i.e. one discipline departments--how are evaluations accomplished?)
