B.5 Benny Discussion: Most major decisions are made by senior staff, with no input from research. What is the Dean’s role in governance? Norlund had a more active participation of senior staff compared to the current one which meets very infrequently. We have to identify problems with previous senior staff so that we can discuss them and solve them.
B.6 Leslie Shared governance agreement was written long ago before AB 1725 and faculty role is not well defined. Also look at MCPP and survey results.

SECTION A
For this section coordinate with Valley and Pierce since it has to be the same.
A.1 Give a general statement about the board answer
A.2 The Board answers to effective through periodic self study.
Discussion: Should we ask for result of Board self study? The Board deals with several issues everyday, but how do they know that they are doing it right. The Board also report to Sacramento. However, if Sacramento doesn’t control, LA Board can do what ever they want.
Write Board description as it was described by the board answers. This will be consistent with Valley and Pierce.
A.3 Use decentralized papers. Much says that they are putting responsibility to college. When writing description try to keep it simple.
A.4 Check in blue book documents.
A.5 when writing description use something like "according to Board policies…defined by State Law"
The answers to Q 356 says there is no evidence of Board accreditation committee.
According the survey results from faulty/staff, the governance status is not understood.
