Standard One meeting

Minutes

Present: Jan Silver, Ed Zayas, Rachel Leeds, Suzanne Ritcheson, John Cantley, Roman Juarez, Louise Barbato, Bill Ruiz.

John presented a chart of self study procedures, discussed the current status of the standard and reviewed work accomplished on the January 6 workshop.

Standard sections were assigned as follows:

1. Janice Silver and Rachel Leeds
2. Louise Barbato and Susan Ritcheson
3. Ed Zayas and Joe Flores
4. Bill Ruiz and Chuck Dirks

Committee discussed on the relevance of the District mission statement, which hasn’t been revised since 1986.

Committee members agreed to meet in their subgroups to work in their assigned sections. It was agreed to submit rough draft narrative desceiptions to John Cantley by February 10 to be placed in the website. John expressed to the committee that responses could be done in any format.

There was continued discussion regarding the relevance of Program Review to the mission statement. The importance of the mission statement to goal-setting and ultimately to assessment was introduced.
