Los Angeles Mission College

Standard 6

March 1, 2000

Present: Ed. Zayas, Ed. Casson, David Garza, Susan Polk, John Cantley, Roman Juarez, Dale Newman, Stan Levine

John discussed the standards’ progress chart and the status of standard 6 in this chart.

The committee reviewed work submitted:

STANDARD SECTIONS

6.1 Susan Polk submitted an inventory chart for all the labs on campus that offer services to students. John suggested that she also include the multimedia lab. The committee noted that even though the LRC pays for the tutors in the OA Lab, this tutoring is limited to OA students. Other tutors also help disabled students. Approved for Posting.

6.2 Not submitted

6.3 Garza is working on this section and wants to include the access hours, number of trained staff, location of resources, organization of resources, disability access, and usage policy. The committee agreed that he should proceed in that direction.

6.4 Not submitted

6.5 The committee advised the subcommittee to interview Borchetta and CSS and submit answers. The committee also suggested that the subcommittee interview Sandy Thomsen and Dale Newman about the budgeting process--especially as to the formation of the operational plan. The committee suggested that the submitted writing be converted into a descriptive summary and to talk more about security issues, budget allocation, and the fluctuation in money allocated for books. The committee wants to read the results in detail before approving this section.

6.6 The committee suggested that the information on software licensing agreements belongs in another section. Approved with modifications.

6.7 The committee asked the subcommittee to include the tutoring surveys done by the LRC every year as evidence of assessment. Approved with modifications.
