The self-study and pilot program timetables were discussed. A draft series of milestones and a master calendar were also discussed. The calendar and milestones were approved by consensus. It will be posted on the accreditation web site.

The pilot program workshop for all three colleges (Pierce, Valley and Mission) will be held on January 6. This all day program will allow representative of all committees to work together with their colleagues from the other campuses to acquire needed information about centralized functions in the district and how they affect each college. The workshop will be held in the campus center starting at 8:30 a.m. Each standard is to select one or more representatives from their committee to attend. This is a flex activity and credit can be received for attendance.

All standards chairs reported on progress. Most are just beginning to acquire the information needed to write the descriptive summary. Some standards still had not had their second meeting. John Cantley urged all standards to meet prior to the break so that some information would be available for the January 6 pilot program workshop.

Maury Pearl introduced himself as the new Associate Dean of research and development. He will be helping in the process of analyzing existing data and gathering new information for the self-study. He stated that a great deal of helpful information already exists in district and state data bases. Some of it is difficult to find and interpret. He can help with this. He also will assist in the preparation of a survey for all of the standards committees. He suggested that three constituencies should be survey--the faculty and staff, the students and the community. It was suggested that he have available survey questions from former surveys and other self-studys as reference for our committees. If any committee needs to prepare survey questions they will contact John Cantley or Maury Pearl.

It was discussed that if standards are having difficulty formulating questions for their research or finding the right person to answer questions, John Cantley can meet with individuals to provide some guidance.

John Beck explained Web Folders with MS Office 2000. He explained the advantages of using them to share the matrix files and to use the embedded note capabilities for threaded discussion on a word or a passage in a document. Beginning in the spring semester, the various committees may use this capability to input draft language for their subsections of the standard.
