Minutes

Present: Gerald Scheib, Yolanda Ramil, Dale Newman, John Cantley, Leslie Milke, Maury Pearl, Roman Juarez, Sandy Thomsen, Mick Reynolds, Mark Pracher, Janice Silver, Benny Scott, David Jordan, Janice Silver.

The committee reviewed the following:

accreditation procedures and current status in the accreditation process chart
status of campus surveys
response to Progress Report from 1999

The committee suggested the following to address the WASC requirement to provide "Evidence that the district has achieved fiscal stability and has achieved an appropriate discretionary operating reserve":

We are out of the state "watch list".

Find copies of district budget, investigate the district's reserves and procedures, interview B. James on budget, find document from State saying that we are out of the watch list. The establishment of the district reserve might be in that document.

John encouraged the committee to review past accreditation documents when writing the description summary to ensure that we are doing what we said we are doing in the progress report. Especially pay attention to recommendation # 4. Now we have department structures.

The committee was encourage to read all the descriptive summary online because next meeting the committee will approve all descriptive summary.

The committee will meet again May 5 at 3:00 in room 6.
