Steve Ruys has dedicated his life to health, wellness, athletic performance, and the overall improvement of a person’s physical well-being. He has worked in college athletics since 1999. First starting as a Track and Field Coach and then moving into his true passion, Strength and Conditioning.
He graduated from California Lutheran University in 1999 with his Bachelors of Science in Sports Medicine. Steve was a duel sport athlete and a student athletic trainer at the LU. He played defensive back for the football program and also through the javelin for the Track and Field program. In 2002, he moved to California State University at Northridge to work as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and to work on his Masters in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics. In April of 2004, Coach Ruys was hired as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Fitness center Coordinator for Los Angeles Pierce College. After 5 year as a Brahma, Coach Ruys moved to Los Angeles Mission College to take over as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Fitness Center Coordinator. He was promoted to the Assistant Athletic Director in the Fall of 2011 and then promoted to the position of Athletic Director in the fall of 2013.
Steve has been married to the love of his life, Jasmine, for over 11 wonderful years. He swept her off her feet while both were attending California Lutheran University. They live in Newhall, California with their two beautiful children, Sophia and Olivia, 7 and 6 respectfully, and their two dogs, Captain and Roxy. Steve believes he is a great fisherman, still an athlete, and loves reading.
