Spring 2008

Dear Mission College Student:

President Valles' PhotoWelcome to your NEW Mission College! There are many new and exciting things happening on campus in which you can be involved. First, we are now really a campus that never sleeps. Our programs have been expanded to serve you beyond our traditional fall and spring semesters. We now have instituted weekend classes, a larger winter inter-session and have expanded our summer offerings. All of these changes have been to better serve you and allow you maximum flexibility in completing your educational goals.

If you are a returning student, you will see some of the many physical changes to our campus that will make Mission College a model of a twenty-first century institution of higher learning. Our new Child Care Facility will open it’s doors in the fall; construction has begun on the Fitness Center building and you can now park with ease in the multi-level parking structure on the edge of campus. And, if you haven’t noticed, the top floor of the parking structure is devoted to a solar energy producing facility that will bring electricity directly to the classrooms of Mission College. We “flipped the switch” for this innovative electricity producing facility last April and Mission can now boast of having it’s very own power plant! In addition to being environmentally friendly, this facility will help Mission to keep the costs of your college education low.

Mission College has also changed in many ways right before your eyes in the last year. Enrollment has increased significantly and we are expanding our commitment to those in our service area that OUR MISSION IS YOUR SUCCESS. We have developed programs both on and off campus to answer your educational needs. So, whatever your individual goal may be, ask us how we can assist you in achieving that goal.

One area of the college, however, that has not changed and will remain a constant for Mission, is our commitment to provide you with the best facilities, best educational experience and best college environment that is possible. Mission College has remained dedicated to student service. For more than three decades our graduates have used Mission as a gateway to higher education, success in business, film, politics, culinary arts, and vocational training. So I personally invite you to take advantage of what we have to offer and allow Mission College to be your Gateway To The Future!

Sincerely,

Judith Valles,

President
