CHARTER

Purpose:    The purpose of the Educational Planning Committee is to guide the college through the continual process of strategic educational planning that includes a systematic cycle of evaluation, integrated planning, implementation, and reevaluation.  In addition, recommendations will be made on issues related to the college’s progress in implementing these plans successfully.

 

Membership:   16 Voting Members 

Administrators (3)

  • Vice President of Academic Affairs
  • 1 – other from Academic Affairs
  • 1 – additional administrator

Faculty:  Senate (9) AFT (2)

  • 1 – Instructional (Senate)
  • 1 – English (Senate)
  • 1 – Math (Senate)
  • 1 – Essential Skills (Senate)
  • 1 – Non-Instructional (Senate)
  • 1 – Department Chair (Senate)
  • 1 – Distance Education Committee Member (Senate)
  • 1 – Vocational/Workforce (AFT)
  • 3 – At Large (2 Senate, 1 AFT)

Officers:

  • Elected Faculty Co-Chair (.2 reassigned time)

The co-chair will be elected from and by the committee membership and will serve a 2-year term with possible re-election (in accordance with College Council policy on Shared Governance Committees). All appointed members are limited to two consecutive 2-year terms.

 

Authorization:   The Educational Planning Committee is a Shared Governance standing committee, chartered and authorized by the College Council and the Academic Senate.  It is authorized to form task forces to accomplish specific objectives.

 

Goals and Objectives:

  1. Develop, update and oversee the implementation of the Educational Master Plan
  2. Oversee Program Review and SLO development in Academic areas
  3. Integrate results of Program Review into the Educational Master Plan
  4. Oversee the college responses to any educationally related accreditation recommendations
  5. Oversee viability review of educational programs
  6. Oversee planning, implementation and assessment of all academic areas including: Credit, Noncredit, Specially Funded Programs, Basic Skills, Distance Education
  7. Develop criteria for the prioritization for the allocation of instructional resources
  8. Prioritize and make recommendations to the Budget and Planning Committee for the allocation of resources to the academic units
  9. Receive and prioritize requests for Instructional Equipment funds and forward recommendations to the Budget and Planning Committee.
Reporting System: 

The Educational Planning Committee will report and make recommendations to College Council

The Educational Planning Committee will make regular reports to and seek input from the Academic Senate

The Educational Planning Committee will make recommendations to the Budget and Planning Committee

The Educational Planning Committee will receive reports from and help ensure the proper functioning of:

  • Educational Master Plan sub-committee
  • Enrollment Management sub-committee
  • Student Learning Outcomes and Assessment
  • Career Technical Education Act (CTEA) Committee
  • Distance Education Committee
  • Curriculum Committee
  • Faculty Hiring Priority Committee
  • Viability Review Committee
  • Essential Skills Committee

Membership Responsibility and Code of Conduct:   It will be the responsibility of every member of the Educational Planning Committee to attend each meeting and to adhere to the College Code of Conduct.  Members with three unexcused absences during any semester will be replaced from the appropriate constituency.
