Welcome
to These are busy days for us. Our enrollment continues to grow, even as the needs of our community expand. We plan to meet the challenge by increasing our academic and career offerings and adding to our faculty. In the Fall, we will inaugurate the new 15-week semester plan, popular with students because of its flexibility. Our new building, currently under construction, will open in Spring 2002, providing us with 10 new "smart" (flexible) classrooms. And we've already taken the first steps toward a significant expansion of our classroom and learning space—thanks to the passage of Proposition A by voters in the Los Angeles Community College District. We're located in Sylmar, and we're proud of our role as an institution of higher learning serving the needs of the northeast San Fernando Valley. Our modern, high-tech, fully air-conditioned campus—the newest of the nine Los Angeles Community Colleges—is surrounded by beauty and open space. The scenic San Gabriel Mountains above the campus inspired our college logo. Next door, we have El Cariso Park, where many of our students like to stroll between classes or take their lunches. Just south of the campus, you'll find the El Cariso Golf Course, where our community neighbors come to play and relax. Visit on the weekend and you'll find a host of recreational activities taking place in open areas surrounding the campus, from little league baseball to hang-gliding. As you can tell, ours is an active community, both on campus and nearby. We invite you to be part of it, be it as a student, business partner or neighbor. Sincerely, Adriana
