Positions For Adjunct Faculty
CNA/HHA Instructor - Los Angeles Mission College is seeking to hire adjunct faculty to teach courses in Nurse Assistant and Home Health Aide Training programs with the following qualifications:
Required minimum qualifications:
- RN degree AND at least an Associate Degree with six years or more experience
- One year nursing experience as a licensed nurse providing direct patient care in a long term care facility in addition to one year of experience planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs in nursing
- Two years of full time experience as a licensed nurse, at least one year of which must be in the provision of direct patient care in a nursing facility (also long term care facility) with a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education courses in planning, implementing and evaluation education programs in nursing. These must be courses approved by the Board of Nursing or courses administered by an accredited educational institution.

Medical Billing and Coding Instructor - Los Angeles Mission College is seeking to hire adjunct faculty part-time to instruct students in Medical Office Coding in a variety of modalities including online and/or in a traditional classroom.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Plan, evaluate and revise curricula, course content, and course materials. Keep abreast of developments and current regulations in the medical coding and billing field. Instruct and teach the basics of the coding and billing process and procedures. This includes ICD-10-CM Diagnostic Coding, processing insurance claims and managing insurance billing and reimbursement using medical programming software.
Serve as a liaison regarding program content with the Chair of Business and vice chair of Life Sciences. Other duties as assigned by the vice chair of Life Sciences and Business Chair.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Mastery of the subject area at a sufficient level to instruct students in the knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite for success in the curriculum. Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) codes, International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and the Health Care Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Level II coding guidelines. Ability to learn teaching methods to instruct students of a variety of ages, backgrounds, learning abilities and learning styles. Ability to work effectively with college faculty, staff and students. The ability to communicate effectively in writing using the English language with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services. Use information technology effectively and appropriately.
Any bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience, or any Associate Degree and six years of professional experience.
Ability to successfully pass a criminal history check.
Bachelor's Degree or higher in related field
Certified in Medical Coding such as CPC (Certified Professional Coder),
CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
Extensive subject matter expertise and relevant work experience in medical insurance billing in both areas of physician and hospital billing.
Related teaching at the college level or equivalent.
Demonstrated learning and success in adult instruction.
