Learning Center
Reading Lab/Tutors
The Reading lab is setup with many reading materials for you to complete the required lab hours for your class, to help you in the development of writing assignments, or just to have a nice, relaxing reading time in the lab. We have series such as:
- SRA: Reading Laboratory
- Specific Skills Series A - Z
- Word Power
- Reading Strategies
- Language Clues
We offer tutorial services to help you understand the reading materials in the lab and/or the reading from your textbooks. Feel free to bring your class textbook or any other reading to the Learning Lab and ask for help if you get stuck at some point.
You can also use the Ellis Program, a computer program designed for students of English as a Second Language that allows you to listen to conversations and work on reading comprehension exercises at your own pace. The computer will keep a record of your progress and your instructor can review it to give you credit for the class. You need headphones for the listening parts of the program; bring your own or borrow them from us.
Additional resources in the reading lab include textbooks used in different classes (old and current editions), reference books, and dictionaries.
