Dear Los Angeles Mission College Community:
Welcome to Monte’s Mission Minute and the President’s Corner. These two new features to our home website are meant to inform the college and the community of all the upcoming and exciting events that will be taking place at the college. It is also meant to keep everybody informed on the accomplishments and progress of the college.
The President’s Corner is an update on enrollment, construction, student support services, and other activities related to our instructional and student support programs; all of which are combined for one common purpose and that is Student Success. We at the college are committed to helping each student succeed in their goal, whether it is to transfer, obtain a certificate in career and technical education, taking pre-collegiate courses or participating in community education offerings.
The Monte’s Mission Minute is a short video that will highlight each program and department that the college has to offer. I will interview students, faculty, staff, and community members once a month introducing the college and community to faculty, staff, administrators, and students working hard to make Mission College great. The first Monte’s Mission Minute introduces you to the upcoming segments. The next segment will begin the first week of the Fall semester in late August.
I hope you enjoy the President’s Corner and Monte’s Mission Minute. It will inform you and introduce to individuals that can help students and community members engage the college in a positive and successful way.
Sincerely,
Monte E. Perez, PhD
President
Dear Mission College Faculty, Staff, and Students:
I want to welcome all of you back to the Fall 2011 semester. I trust you had a restful summer. The heat hasn’t subsided, but we are all excited to have our students back in full capacity.
This academic year will be challenging and exciting. We will address each challenge without difficulty and we will continue to display our excitement about teaching and learning at Mission College.
In our college website under my President’s Corner I have included my first “State of the College Address” for Academic Year 11-12. This nine page paper addresses the past, current, and future needs and goals of the campus. It provides you a view of what the college will do over the next 12 months to increase the quality of teaching and learning, meet our financial obligations, and prepare for future enrollments.
I look forward to your comments and suggestions in the coming year. I am always available to talk with each of you. Feel free to contact me when you want to have a dialogue.
Have a successful and joyful fall semester.
Sincerely,
Monte E. Perez, PhD
President
