PSYCHOLOGY 001
GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY I
(UC:CSU) 3 UNITS
Prerequisite: None.
Lecture 3 hours.
Survey course introducing modern psychology by presenting scientific and
humanistic interpre-tations of the human mind and behavior. Topics to
be covered are: biological bases of behavior, perception, learning, personality
and social influences.
Acceptable for credit: UCLA: Psychology 10; CSUN: Psychology 150.
PSYCHOLOGY 002
GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY II
(UC:CSU) 3 UNITS
Prerequisite: Psych 1.
Lecture 3 hours.
A survey of the role of biological factors in such areas in psychology
as perception, motivation, learning, thinking, and pathology. Information
about the anatomy and physiology of the human nervous system is presented
to explain psychological problems.
Acceptable for credit: UCLA: Psychology 15; CSUN: Psychology 250.

PERSONALITY AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
(CSU) 3 UNITS
Prerequisite: Psych 1, with a grade of "C" or better.
Lecture 3 hours.
To provide the student with a basic conceptual and experimental understanding
of the application of modern techniques of behavioral control and modification
as they relate to the student's personal and social adjustment.

SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY

Prerequisite: Introductory Psychology with a grade of "C" or
better.
Lecture 3 hours.
Social Psychology is a specialty area within psychology addressing the
influences of other people on our own behavior. Additionally, Social Psychology
will focus on the behaviour or people within groups or mobs, organizations,
interpersonal attraction, attitudes towards persons of various ethnic
backgrounds, and will hope to address issues of tolerance within an increasingly
ethnically diverse society.

ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY
(UC:CSU) 3 UNITS
Prerequisite: Psychology 1 with a grade of "C" or better.
This course examines the definition, possible causes, and treatments of
behaviors which are considered dysfunctional. Topics such as anxiety,
depression, psychoses, addiction will be emphasized.
PSYCHOLOGY 017
EXCEPTIONAL CHILD
(CSU) 3 UNITS
Prerequisite: Psych 1 with a grade of "C" or better.
Lecture 3 hours.
An exploration of the physical, mental, and emotional development of the
gifted, learning disabled, mentally retarded, emotionally disturbed and
physically handicapped child. The course includes research into causes,
prevention of disabilities, teaching and counseling methods.
PSYCHOLOGY 052
PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF HUMAN SEXUALITY
(UC:CSU) 3 UNITS
Prerequisite: None.
Lecture 3 hours.
Explores the psychological aspects of human sexuality. Topics include
male/female anatomy and function of sex organs. Senses of sexuality myths
and fallacies regarding the sexual process.
