Academic Senate Resolution

RESOLUTION TO ENDORSE AND RECOMMEND THAT THE COLLEGE ADOPT THE PROPOSAL THAT THE MASTER PLAN COMMITTEE BE REDEFINED AND RECONSTITUTED AS DETAILED IN THE PROPOSAL, "IMPROVEMENT: CONTINUOUS AND NEVERENDING (ICAN)"

Whereas the college is deeply immersed in a new era of assessment, planning, and accountability; and

Whereas the college has been missing compliance deadlines for want of critical planning and organization in some areas; and

Whereas there is not in place a committee or plan or procedure to do the necessary research, assessment, and planning required to meet our own and compliance objectives; and

Whereas there is neither in place nor in practice a committee or process to identify, coordinate, harmonize, focus, and fructify the multiple needs and aspirations of the college community; and

Whereas it is incumbent upon the college to quickly refine and advance all aspects of institutional assessment, student equity, staff development, prerequisites, program review, the master plan, multiculturalism, curriculum and instructional development, information technology, student services, facilities development, and fiscal responsibility;

Be it therefore resolved that the Academic Senate of Los Angeles Mission College supports and recommends that the college adopt and facilitate the implementation of the ICAN proposal.
