Distance Education Committee Charter

The Distance Education (DE) Committee communicates with and advises the college regarding distance education issues.

The Committee reports to the Educational Planning Committee and includes equal representation of AFT and Academic Senate faculty, including a faculty member who does not teach a DE course, and one administrator. Information technology staff may serve as a resource to the Committee.

The Curriculum Committee shall address the appropriateness of a course for an online delivery mode. The DE Committee serves as a resource to the curriculum committee in its decisions regarding online course delivery.

Teaching Online

To teach an online or hybrid course at LAMC, faculty must be proficient in the use of our campus learning management system (LMS) and have training in online pedagogy. Faculty can provide this evidence by submitting training certification(s) from approved training course.

Please contact the Distance Education Coordinator for more information.
