Mission Online

Welcome!

The Distance Learning / Education program at Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC) offers a wide variety of engaging online courses allowing you to explore a passion, update your professional skills, or satisfy a requirement for a degree or certificate!

Mission Online offers a convenient way to take classes that are fully accredited and offer the same quality of instruction and rigor as traditional classes. The registration process, course content, course credit, and cost per unit are the same as on-campus courses. Many of our online courses require an orientation meeting on campus at the start of the term. Students should contact their instructor for course-specific orientation information.

5 Reasons to Choose Mission Online for Your Education!

If you've taken face-to-face classes all your life, being a little apprehensive about taking courses online is normal — even for tech-savvy students. However, taking online courses definitely has its perks. Here are five advantages to studying at Mission Online.

  1. Career Advancement and Lifelong Learning
Studying online gives you more flexibility. You can fit your work schedule (and your personal interests) around your educational goals. You can listen to lectures and complete assignments remotely with no need to fight traffic, leave work early for class, or miss important family time.
  2. Flexible Schedule and Environment
By studying online, you can choose your own learning environment that works best for your needs whether it's at the park, the campus learning center, the café across the street, or at your local gym listening to your instructor’s lecture. Taking an online course also means that you don’t have to commute to class, which means less time spent commuting and more time studying on your couch.
  3. Self-Discipline and Responsibility
Not only can online courses increase your knowledge in a particular subject area, but they can teach lessons invaluable to other areas of your life. Online classes leave you on your own, without a physical classroom to attend and a teacher reminding you to get your work done and keep your grades up. Self-discipline and commitment skills go a long way in successfully completing online classes.
  4. Networking Opportunities
Individual instruction does not mean that you'll be completely isolated from your online classmates. Online education provides you with the chance to network with your peers across the state. This often leads to opportunities to collaborate with others in the implementation of a project or assignment. Online courses generally include message boards, which gives you opportunities to discuss your work and make connections with other students -- no matter where they're located.
  5. Pacing
Many online education programs allow you to work at your own pace. Some students don't mind following the pace of a traditional course with the rest of their classmates. Other students become frustrated as they feel bored with slow-moving instruction or feel overwhelmed with material that they don't have time to understand. If working at a modified pace is important to you, then Mission Online may be the right option for you!
