The Culinary Arts pathway at Los Angeles Mission College prepares students for careers in the food service industry. Our programs, distinguished by our exceptional instructors and world-class facilities, compare favorably to many private and for-profit culinary institutions. Students receive unparalleled training in culinary techniques, kitchen management, and restaurant operations.  Our goal is to support student in acquiring the skills necessary for success in professional kitchens and hospitality management. Our faculty brings extensive expertise and real-world insights into the classroom, providing students with invaluable mentorship and guidance. Degrees and Certificates:

Students receive comprehensive training in culinary arts encompassing foundational cooking techniques, knife skills, classical sauces, menu planning, kitchen operations, and food safety. Graduates are equipped to pursue successful careers as chefs and culinary entrepreneurs.

Students receive a comprehensive understanding of the operational and managerial aspects of the restaurant industry. Students learn essential skills in restaurant operations, hospitality management, customer service, and business fundamentals.

Students prepare for positions such as junior baker, assistant cake decorator and junior pastry cook.

Students demonstrate proficiency in baking and patisserie.

Students prepare for positions such as entry level prep, line, and short order cooks.

Students demonstrate proficiency in culinary production, operational theory, and procedures.

Students complete culinary arts courses including successful completion of the Culinary Specialist I and II certifications. Students are trained and prepared for careers in all aspects of culinary arts.

Students prepare for front-of-the house positions. 

Students complete restaurant management courses including successful completion of the Restaurant Management skill certification. Students are trained and prepared for careers in all aspects of the culinary arts and hospitality fields.
