Theatre Arts at LA Mission College
Theatre is the most complex and exciting art form, combining aspects of storytelling, performance, visual arts, music, technical skills, and management and producing, all in a live scenario. The LA Mission College Theatre Arts program offers all students—regardless of experience or major—a place to explore these areas—as an actor, a scenic, lighting, or costume designer, a crew member working backstage or in our scene shop, or from the audience.
Each class we offer is taught by professional working artists who have developed curricula that is custom-made for LA Mission College students. We have taught, mentored, and worked side-by-side hundreds of students of who come to us with little or no experience, with as much success as those who have career aspirations in the performing arts.
The centerpiece of our program is our productions which we present in the AMP Theater in May and November of every year. We have produced professional-scale adaptations of plays, like Peter and the Starcatcher and Shakespeare’s Macbeth; musicals like Cabaret and Little Shop of Horrors; and original works developed by faculty and students, like Mr. Grieves and The Vampires and She Who Was No More.
