An English degree is appropriate for all students who want to improve written and oral expression. It also affords students the opportunity to expand their comprehension of diverse literary texts. This degree is not only for students who are interested in teaching, but it is also for students who plan to continue with graduate work in programs ranging from liberal arts to law.

This transfer degree in Communication Studies will provide the student with a firm basic foundation in the principles of effective communication, communication processes, and communication styles. This degree will allow the student to transfer to a CSU as a communication studies major or in a related major.

LAMC's Creative Writing Certificate invites aspiring writers to delve deep into the world of narrative creation. Through a curated blend of courses, students master the art of crafting compelling stories across diverse platforms and within multiple disciplines, including English, Theater, Journalism and Multimedia. Armed with practical editing skills, graduates are equipped for a writing career in publishing, marketing, or the entertainment industry.

This General Studies A.A. allows students to take courses that will prepare them for possible careers within the fields of English (including creative writing), Communication Studies, Journalism, and more. This program provides an opportunity to earn an A.A. degree in a broad area of study and is intended for students who may not be planning to transfer to a 4-year university or who may need to explore possibilities before committing themselves to a major.
