Exhibition Checklist
From September 24 through November 1, 2024, the Arts, Media & Performance (AMP) Gallery at Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC) will present twelve paintings and sculptures from nine contemporary artists in Los Angeles.
Entitled “Ecstatic Truth(s),” this exhibition explores a famous quote by filmmaker Werner Herzog, “There are deeper strata of truth in cinema, and there is such a thing as poetic, ecstatic truth. It is mysterious and elusive and can be reached only through fabrication and imagination and stylization.”
“Ecstatic Truth(s)” aims to embody this vision by showcasing works from local artists—one of whom identifies as both queer and non-binary—across diverse media. The exhibition explores deeper truths through visual juxtapositions, materiality, and electrifying use of color.
An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, September 24th, from 5 to 9 pm. The exhibit will run through Friday, November 1st, and will be open Monday through Wednesday, from 11 am to 4 pm, or by appointment. To schedule an appointment, please contact Curtis Stage.
