Little Shop of Horrors
Friday, May 17, 2024
Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC) Theatre Arts will present the classic musical Little Shop Of Horrors, which is currently enjoying a star-studded revival on Broadway.
In a failing flower shop on Skid Row, the nerdy Seymour Krelborn happens upon a new breed of plant which he names "Audrey II,” after his coworker crush. After an accidental taste of blood, Audrey II is revealed as a ravenous carnivore, and promises fame and fortune to Seymour...as long as he keeps feeding it. As Audrey II gets bigger and bigger, its appetite demands more human-sized meals. Just as Seymour and Audrey profess their love for each other, Audrey II’s plan for world domination becomes clear, and Seymour must choose between love and escaping Skid Row for good.
Little Shop of Horrors will be presented in the LAMC Arts, Media & Performance (AMP) Theater from May 10–19, with a preview performance on May 9. Tickets range from $10–25.
Directed by Associate Professor Robert Cucuzza, with vocal direction by Brett Ryback, this musical features a cast of twelve students, including Kevin Boecher as Seymour, Keira Weiss as Audrey, John Barron as Mushnik, Caasi Romo as Audrey 2, and Diego Godinez as Orin, the sadistic dentist.
