On a perfectly cool and sunny day at Woodward Park, Fresno, the best of California’s community college cross country runners lined up for one final time this season, and once again, Dylan Atwater represented Los Angeles Mission College. Dylan finished a notable career as he ran the State meet for the second time, where he placed higher than he did the year before.

Running the standard 4-mile course, Atwater finished 132nd out of 176, with a time of 22 minutes and 55 seconds (about 5:43 per mile pace). With a vocal support group of his coaches, a teammate, and family, Dylan basked in a gratifying career.

Atwater, who had initially planned on attending another local community college two years ago, went with his sense of loyalty to “represent his community.” Coach Laguna said he and the college were grateful: “Dylan could have joined another program but instead decided on representing his community, and he did a more than a commendable job as an athlete, a student, and in general as a good person. The college and I are grateful for his commitment to LAMC, as he helped lay the foundation for the program’s growth while also setting an example for others to follow”.

Congratulations to Dylan and all members of the Los Angeles Mission College Eagles on a fruitful season!
