Macbeth to Take Center Stage at Kennedy Center Theatre Festival
Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC) is proud to announce that the Fall 2023 Theatre Production of Macbeth has been invited to be presented at the 56th Kennedy Center American College Theater (KCACTF) Region 8 Festival in February at Glendale Community College in Glendale, CA. Macbeth is one of only four productions to be invited in Region 8, which includes colleges and universities from Arizona, Central and Southern California, Hawaii, Southern Nevada, Utah, and Guam. A Kennedy Center committee will attend and evaluate each invited production in all eight regions nationwide and present regional and national awards.
Macbeth will be presented on Monday, February 12 at 4 pm and Tuesday, February 13 at 10 am in the Mod Theatre on the Glendale Community College campus.
KCACTF has also recognized LAMC students for their work on both Macbeth and the college's spring 2023 production, Mr. Grieves and The Vampires. Macbeth actors Sohail Rahman, Ingrid Aguayo, and Diego Godinez and Mr. Grieves actors Natalie Arrendondo, Dennis Gonzalez, and Monserrat Lopez have been nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Award.
Meritorious Achievement Awards were given to Amanda Loa for her scenic design of Macbeth and assistant scenic design of Mr. Grieves. Jacob Padilla was awarded a Meritorious Achievement Award for his stage management of Mr. Grieves. These students have also been invited to compete at the regional festival for the chance to move on to the national competition in Washington, DC in April.
Each year in February, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Region 8 Festival brings together students and faculty to see one another’s work, make connections, and share ideas. In addition to performances, there are a wide range of activities that include competitions, workshops, and seminars in all aspects of theatre.
