The Los Angeles Mission College STEM MESA Program is a dynamic and inclusive program designed to empower students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) degrees. Rooted in collaboration between multiple STEM programs, including the Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Achievement (MESA) program and the Department of Education Title III Grant STEM Mission's Excellence Towards the Advancement of Students (METAS). Our mission is to cultivate a diverse and thriving community of aspiring STEM professionals.

The STEM MESA Program aims to help students achieve success in math- and science-based degrees. Through the our program, students develop academic and leadership skills, increase educational performance, and gain confidence in their ability to compete professionally. You can join a cohort of students on a similar path to you for support and motivation. This community of learners, with a very specialized focus, is what sets the STEM MESA Program apart from other student success programs.

  1. Increase the number and percentage of underrepresented and/or low-income students attaining certificates and degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM);
  2. Increase the number and percentage of underrepresented and/or low income students who complete a certificate and/or degree in STEM within two years; and

A Community of Support: How MESA Shaped My Academic Path

MESA has opened my eyes to countless opportunities I would have never discovered on my own. From field trips to universities I hope to attend someday, to assistance with internships and scholarships, and connecting me with a community of like-minded STEM students, MESA has truly been an amazing experience. Everyone in the MESA office is genuinely dedicated to helping each and every student succeed. I can confidently say that I wouldn’t be where I am in my academic journey without the incredible opportunities and support MESA has provided.
