Los Angeles Mission College welcomes new international students applying for an F-1 or M-1 Visa. Los Angeles Mission College accepts international student applications for the Fall and Spring semesters only.
Application Requirements for Admissions
Please provide accurate and complete details when submitting your application. All documents must be official and original. Documents may be scanned and emailed to @email
The decision regarding your admission will be determined once the International Students Program receives all your supporting documents and payment of the application fee. Please contact the International Students Program for help or if there are any questions you may have.
- Submit the Preliminary Application Form to intstudents@lamission.edu

Submit the Financial Affidavit Form which should be completed by the applicant and the financial sponsor. Please contact our office to access the form.
- The name of your sponsor must match the name on the Financial Document.
- Check that the form has all the appropriate signatures.
- If you are supporting yourself, then select "Personal Funds."
- Applicants who will receive free room and board must have their housing sponsor complete and sign the "Housing Sponsor Food & Lodging" portion of the form.
Submit an original Financial Document from your bank or financial institution. Acceptable Financial Documents: Original Balance Verification Letter or Bank Statements.
- The name on the bank letter should match the name of the person identified on the Financial Affidavit Form.
- The bank letter must be dated within the last six months and reflect a minimum balance required under International Student Fee Schedule & Estimated Living Expenses.
- A certified English translation must accompany the bank letter if the original document is not in English.
Submit proof that you completed Secondary Education and/or High School Diploma and all College Transcripts for any Postsecondary Education completed in the US.
Submit official academic records (transcripts) from secondary school/high school and all colleges and universities attended. If transcripts are not in English, attach a certified English translation.
Provide a brief Personal Statement that includes your educational background and academic goals you wish to achieve. Identify your intended program of study and why you selected Los Angeles Mission College.
Submit a copy of your passport identification page and passport sized photo. Passport sized photograph is approximately 2 x 2 inches or 51 x 51 mm.
English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC are not required for newly admitted students. Students interested in applying for the English as a Second Language (ESL) program will be assessed with the ESL department for placement in academic ESL credit courses.
Change of Status
Applicants in the United States on a valid visa may be eligible to apply for a change of status to F-1 International Student while remaining in the United States.
Applicants must complete the Admissions Requirements (items #1-7) and the additional items #8-9 listed below. Allow up to two weeks processing time once all documents are received.
Admitted students will receive a Form I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant Student Status from LAMC. The student can then submit the I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status through U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Students requiring assistance with this application filing through USCIS will need to contact an immigration attorney.
Please note that certain Visa types allow students to attend the college while waiting for the F-1 Change of Status to be adjudicated. Other Visa types do not allow enrollment at the college until the applicant is granted F-1 student status.

Please provide a copy of your most current I-94. You may access your I-94 through the US Customs & Border Protection.
Transfer In to LAMC
International students who are currently studying in the United States (U.S.) with a valid Form I-20 can apply for full-time admission to Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC).
Applicants must complete the Admissions Requirements (items #1-7) and the additional items #10-14 listed below. Allow up to two weeks processing time once all documents are received. Applicants must have a valid or "Active" Form I-20. International students in Terminated F-1 status will need to schedule an appointment with our office to discuss if Admissions is possible.
After receiving an admission offer from LAMC, the student can request their current school's Designated School Official (DSO) to transfer their electronic SEVIS record (Form I-20) to LAMC.

Complete the top portion of the Transfer Eligibility Form and submit it to the Designated School Official at your current school to complete the bottom portion of the form.
