An international student is a foreign national who has permission from United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to study at an educational institution in the United States.
International students may be authorized to study with 2 types of Visas:
F-1 Student Visa
- Allows students to enroll in academic programs at an accredited college, university, high school, elementary school, or other academic institution or language training program
- Must be enrolled in a course of study that culminates in a degree, diploma, or certificate
M-1 Student Visa
- Allow students to enroll in vocational or nonacademic programs (other than language training)

English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC are not required for newly admitted students. Students interested in applying for the English as a Second Language (ESL) program will be assessed with the ESL department for placement in academic ESL credit courses.

International students are unable to apply for federal or state financial aid. International Students are required to document that they have the available funds to support themselves in the United States. International students are able to apply for scholarships as additional financial assistance.
No, international students will be required to obtain their own off-campus housing. Please refer to our Housing page for additional resources.
International students are required to enroll in and complete 12 units per semester in order to maintain their F-1 or M-1 student status.

International Students are eligible to work on-campus at Los Angeles Mission College and are able to work up to 20 hours per week during Fall and Spring semesters. All employment inquires must be discussed with the Designated School Officials (DSOs). Please contact the ISP office and visit our Employment Options page for more information.
Yes. LAMC does offer English training (language training). Please contact the ISP office for more information.
Yes. International students (current F-1 visa holders) can enroll into LAMC while attending another institution. The following documents will be needed prior to concurrent enrollment.
- An authorization letter from your current Designated School Official (DSO) the class(es) you wish to take. The letter must be addressed to Los Angeles Mission College, including units approved, and the semester/year. DSOs may email the concurrent letter directly to LAMC at @email
