Employment Options for F-1 Students

On-Campus Employment

International Students are eligible to work on-campus at Los Angeles Mission College. International students can work up to 20 hours per week during Fall and Spring semesters. Employment must be discussed with the Designated School Officials (DSOs) so that they can review USCIS regulations before authorized employment. You may find more information about On-Campus Employment on the USCIS website.

Employment will be based on department funding and availability of student worker positions. Departments with available student worker positions may require a job application and an interview.

If you are offered an on-campus position, please complete the steps below to complete the On-Campus Employment Process.

  1. Visit the ISP office to pick up the Employment Authorization Form.

  2. Have your new supervisor complete the Employer Section on the Authorization Form.

  3. Please return the form to ISP so that the Designated School Official (DSO) can complete their portion of the Employment Authorization Form.

  4. Apply for a Social Security Number using the completed Employment Verification Form and other required support documents. Additional information can be found on the USCIS website
  5. Visit the Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC) Personnel Office to complete the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) employment forms and schedule an appointment for fingerprinting.
  6. You may only start working once the LAMC Personnel Office has cleared your assignment.
